Jhye Richardson invests into Ground Zero Gaming
From the test arena to the gaming world, Australian fast bowler Jhye Richardson has delivered a significant investment into esports powerhouse Ground Zero Gaming.
It’s been a huge summer for Richardson. He claimed a magnificent five wicket haul in Australia's second Ashes Test victory at the Adelaide Oval then rejoined the Perth Scorchers to storm home with a Big Bash League grand final victory.
Richardson is now turning his love of competition to the online gaming arena. After first becoming a Ground Zero Gaming brand ambassador in early 2021, his continued close relationship with the Ground Zero team and passion around the ongoing direction of the organization has led to an opportunity to make a significant investment into its future.
“I’m incredibly excited to invest and take an ownership stake in Ground Zero Gaming,” said Richardson, “As an avid gamer, it is a privilege to be invited to join such a respected organisation, and I hope through my experience I can help continue Ground Zero’s upwards trajectory. We already have some exciting plans for 2022 coming to fruition.”
As a professional athlete, Richardson embodies the core skills, behaviours, and mindset that are critical in elite esports professionals, enhancing Ground Zero Gaming’s health and wellbeing strategy. He will continue to feature in brand activations for Ground Zero Gaming and provide a critical connection between traditional sports and esports.

Ground Zero Gaming has driven fierce competition during the 2020/2021 seasons, being crowned champions in the Rocket League Championship Series Season 9 Oceania Tournament; Overwatch Contenders Championship; and the World Electronic Sports Games Oceanic CS:GO Tournament. This momentum continued through 2021, with Ground Zero Gaming’s professional Rocket League team also winning the Rocket League Championship Series X Oceanic Major.
